NJ (February 17, 2012)-Jack Lutz, a recognized name in area golf circles, has
been named general manager at Old York Country Club in Chesterfield, New
Jersey. Operation of the private club, which is located near Trenton, was
acquired via lease by Robert Levy and added to a local portfolio of golf
courses that includes Talamore CC in Ambler and Applecross CC near Downingtown, plus two North Carolina
properties, Talamore Resort and the Mid South Club.
Old York CC is a Gary Player design that opened in 1995 and has been operated
as a private club from its inception. The immediate role of Lutz is to oversee
renovations at the club, which include the construction of a new mixed grille
and adjacent outdoor patio dining area. Upon reopening for the season, he will
be involved in membership growth and the day-to-day operations of the club.
For the past five years with the Talamore Family of
Clubs Lutz has served in the capacity of business development and membership
growth at both Talamore CC and Applecross
Lutz has a long history of employment in the hospitality and golf industries,
dating back to an 18-year stint as vice president of operations for the
multi-national service management organization. After that he broke into the
golf industry as president of Golf Standards Corporation, a marketing company
for noted golf instructor Jim McLean.
He also spent five years as the CEO/Executive Director of the Philadelphia Section
PGA, during which time he was instrumental in the logistics of the 64th Senior
PGA Championship at Aronomink GC in 2003.
"I am extremely excited about the opportunity here at Old York CC,"
said Lutz. "The upside at this property is tremendous. Even though the
course has been recognized among the best in New Jersey, the club never reached
its full potential. Mr. Levy's goal is to make it a destination country club
that attracts people from a wide area."
The club is scheduled to open for the season on February 23. A number of
membership plans are available and information can be found by going to www.oldyorkcc.com
or by calling 609-298-3322.
