Clapgo back 20-30 years ago, orginal 3 rd hole now # 1 .down hill , gigantic trees right and left, across a wide cobbs creek  How about old # 4? Short par 3,  from middle tees,across cobbs creek 2 X's, large tree left of green. then that nasty # 5 with hazard up entirer fairway, and the list goes on and on. one last thought.  Fairmount mounted police, sitting high on # 17 . talk about respecting authority or just being scared. Were is my $ 3.00 daily fee pass?

Aced the 17th this afternoon (hole playing like 210 into the wind) from back tee with a driver! The sweet part was watching the ball roll uphill 25 feet straight into the cup. Drinks all around! Clap

It always pains me to play here since the layout is terrific but course conditions are always poor.  I mean, the Olde course was designed by the same guy who laid out Merion East.  Early Spring is the best time to play though, before the heat dries everything out.  The Irish Open is this weekend, which is also a good time to check out the course from a condition standpoint.  Just don't expect too much, yet still better than Summer. 
 
I really wish someone would put the money and work into getting this course in fighting shape.  Billy Casper Management is not really getting it done.

The layout is phenomenal, especially some of the par 5s.  It's a shame that they can't get someone to manage the course properly and have conditions commensurate with the history and layout.
